It's taken months of saving and planning, but we are finally in South America! We have 5 months to travel from Buenos Aires over to Uruguay, up through the Iguazu Falls to Brazil, the Emerald Coast, Colombia, the Caribbean Coast, the Amazon, Peru, the Nazca Lines, Machu Picchu, Bolivia, Lake Titicaca, the Salar, back into Argentina, Mendoza, Chile, Patagonia and back to Buenos Aires by March 2012!

Sea Lions at the Markets
A short stop over in Valvidia on our continuing journey south. The weather was miserable, but we got out to the fish markets, and saw the guests of honour, a family of sea lions. Sitting patiently behind specially made fences sit ridiculously big, sleek sea lions, waiting for a spare fish head. Huffing and puffing as they surfaced, others swam and played in the murky waters. And further out on the river was a pontoon, again specially built, for the already contentedly full ones to loll and digest on.
But Gardel, the white puddle duck who lived in the garden of the wonderful hostel we stayed in was our favourite. He chewed your shoe laces and quacked irritably if you dared to enter his garden.
