As a beautifully well planned birthday surprise G had book us in for lunch at Astrid y Gaston in Lima. Ranked #42 in the world, this place was just delectable! Unfortunately even the best laid plans fall apart. Our previous night at the casino had won out over G. Hoping that a bloody mary might fix what was broken we went ahead and ordered. But perhaps when feeling a little green seabass ceviche is not the best thing to eat. By 3rd course G matched her top.
So we called it quits and marvelously for me, returned 2 nights later for round 2. Tiradito, guinea pig pancakes and suckling goat. Exquisite. Finished off with a private tour of the kitchen.
Guinea pig pancakes: black corn pancakes, hoisin and lemongrass sauce, pickled veggies and duck fat rendered guinea pig! Scrumcious! |
