It's taken months of saving and planning, but we are finally in South America! We have 5 months to travel from Buenos Aires over to Uruguay, up through the Iguazu Falls to Brazil, the Emerald Coast, Colombia, the Caribbean Coast, the Amazon, Peru, the Nazca Lines, Machu Picchu, Bolivia, Lake Titicaca, the Salar, back into Argentina, Mendoza, Chile, Patagonia and back to Buenos Aires by March 2012!

Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, post card material
From Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast we walked into Tayrona National Park.
An extremely hot and sticky 50 minute hike through dense jungle, arid dry forests and smelly swamps straight out of a scene from The Labyrinth, to paradise. And paradise apparently comes at a cost, for an outrageous sum we stayed in a beachside 'cabana', read shitty shack with a hose for a shower! But to our delight, confusion and panic we did have a visiting toucan. With power out at 9:45 sharp, we had our own personal tropical thunder storm for company and a fire fly show to send us off to sleep. An hours walk further north was the stunning Cabo beach, straight off any Caribbean postcard, crystal clear warm waters filled to the brim with fish, white sand, and palm trees. We did however forget that with the heat comes sweat, and all our carefully applied factor 30 was melted off. Now we are both a pretty shade of fushia pink.
